Mardi Gras Colors

The Mardi Gras Colors of Purple, Green and Gold were also first seen in 1872. The Krewe of Rex selected the official Mardi Gras colors in 1872 again for the Duke's visit. The most widely accepted interpretation is purple for justice, green for faith and gold for power. So from this one visit of his Imperial Highness of Russia Grand Duke Alexis Romanoff the Mardi Gras got the tradition of a King, a March and it's Colors. Today's parades and general Mardi Gras celebrations have evolved into a mixture of ideas that have become traditional over the years, but the real spirit retains the ageless spirit of the original French Mardi Gras - Lissez Le Bon Temps Rouler! (Let The Good Times Roll) Eat, Drink and Be Merry!
So from this one visit of his Imperial Highness of Russia Grand Duke Alexis Romanoff the Mardi Gras got the tradition of a King, a March and it's Colors.
