Parade Sponsor InformationWe are the Krewe of Aquarius, which is non profit organization and the second oldest Mardi Gras Social Organization in Texas. Galveston's Mardi Gras celebrations have become distinctive events. It has been the cover story for Texas Monthly, Texas Highways, Texas Parks and Wildlife Magazine, Houston City Magazine, Inside Houston, The Houston Press, Inside Dallas plus many more not to mention the countless newspaper articles and tour guides and TV broadcast ect, ect, etc. Galveston's Mardi Gras is substantial. We are an all-volunteer Krewe, designing and constructing our floats for both Krewe of Aquarius sponsored parades. Mardi Gras commences with our "Kick Off Parade". A spectacular day parade along the Seawall against the backdrop of the Gulf of Mexico. It is the largest of the Galveston parades and one of the largest parades in Texas. Mardi Gras ends with the "Fat Tuesday Parade" again by the Krewe of Aquarius in the Strand District. We also put on the largest Mardi Gras Party in Texas known as "The Barn Bash," plus our fabulous formal ball. Both Krewe of Aquarius parades are open to all Krewes, marching bands, costumed walking figures, special vehicle display groups, floats, etc. to join in the celebration and presentation. In addition to the philosophy of presenting glorious costumes and parades for the Galveston/Houston Community. The Krewe of Aquarius is involved in numerous year round activities with crawfish boils, cook-offs and many other events. We also help various local charities. The Krewe cosponsors and participates in the annual Special People's Ball held at Moody Gardens. Krewe members deliver Mardi Gras Souvenir Baskets to the children's wards at John Sealy Hospital and The Shrine Burn Center of Galveston, as well as many other activities throughout the year. The cost of producing these annual parades
is exceedingly expensive, so the members work throughout the year
to raise the funds needed. The Krewe has to pay all city fees,
police charges and clean up, plus have insurance in case of any
mishaps. We are financed by dues, the sale of Krewe merchandise,
fund-raising projects and sponsors. Because of our year round
activities we offer many opportunities for business and corporations
to become active in the Galveston Mardi Gras throughout the year.
The Krewe of Aquarius offers different levels of sponsorship.
We present many opportunities for advertisement and promotion
not only during the parades but also throughout the year with
all our Krewe activities and web site. |
